Holland America Line's private island welcomes its first cruise ship of the season

After transiting the Panama Canal, the Nieuw Amsterdam arrived today at Half Moon Cay, the first ship to visit Holland America Line's private island for its 25th anniversary season. The ship's crew marked the season's opening with a special display on the beach.

This season, which also marks our 150th anniversary as a company, seven Holland America Line ships will explore the traditions and tranquility of the Caribbean – including the two newest Pinnacle-class ships – on round-trip itineraries from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The adventures offer itineraries ranging from five to 14 days to the eastern, western, and southern regions, including sailings that include a day exploring the Panama Canal. All Caribbean cruises include a stop at Half Moon Cay.

Moon Cay
is the highest-rated Caribbean port by Holland America Line guests. This picturesque sanctuary has become a playground for cruise ship guests, boasting the Caribbean's best beach, a 700-acre natural lagoon, two-story villas and private cabanas, delicious dining options like the Lobster Shack, a children's water park, and a variety of shore excursions for nature lovers, adventurers, and explorers.

Two Pinnacle-Class Ships in the Caribbean:
During the 2022-2023 season, the Rotterdam and the Nieuw Statendam—Holland America Line’s two newest ships—will explore the Caribbean islands, offering more guests the opportunity to experience the tropics. In addition, the family and single staterooms, exclusive to the Pinnacle-Class ships, offer additional configurations to suit guests’ needs. Both ships also feature Holland America Line’s signature Music Walk venues and specialty restaurants.

After spending today in Half Moon Cay, the Nieuw Amsterdam will set sail for Fort Lauderdale, where it will make a stop for the Caribbean season.
