The Crystal Symphony sold for $25 million and the Crystal Serenity for $103 million at auction in the Bahamas, according to The Tribune. The sales were conducted via auction, and the highest bidders were CSY Ltd. and CSE Ltd., named after the ships, and likely special purpose entities created for the acquisition. Therefore, the true identity of the owners or the sole proprietor has not yet been revealed.
The Crystal Symphony was built in 1995 for $250 million, while the Crystal Serenity was built in 2003 for $350 million.
Both ships are currently in Freeport, Bahamas, where they have been since their detention in early February.
The Tribune reported that Bahamas Admiralty Marshal Berne Wright confirmed that payment had been made for both vessels and that hearings would be held to determine the order of payment to creditors. Priority would be given to custody fees and maritime liens, as well as crew wages, fuel supplies, and other expenses. Settlement of vessel maintenance costs would follow, and then payments to banks and financial institutions.
