Norwegian Cruise Line returns to the Canary Islands for the first time since 2017, offering guests more choice and greater flexibility with year-round European cruises in 2022.
Following a grand 22-day transatlantic voyage from Miami to Lisbon, the Norwegian Sun will return to Europe, offering immersive Canary Islands itineraries beginning November 21, 2022. The nearly 2,000-passenger cruises will range from 10 to 14 days and provide guests with greater flexibility by offering a variety of embarkation ports, including Lisbon, Portugal; Málaga, Spain; and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands. In addition, during the Norwegian Sun’s debut six-month season in the region, the ship will call at several new ports for NCL, including Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura) and San Sebastián de la Gomera in the Canary Islands, Spain; Ceuta, Spain; Agadir, Morocco; and Horta (Azores), Portugal.
“The Canary Islands have always been a draw for travelers from around the world, and now even more so as they seek to enjoy some much-needed winter sunshine,” said Kevin Bubolz, Managing Director Europe for Norwegian Cruise Line. “The Norwegian Sun’s new itineraries provide a unique combination of the Canary Islands with ports in Portugal, mainland Spain, and Morocco, offering our guests a year-round European season with nine cruises to make the most of their travels this year.”
Offering access to ports throughout the region—from Agadir and Casablanca in Morocco to Las Palmas and Arrecife in Spain—the itineraries also include visits to cities such as Ceuta in North Africa and Cádiz in Spain. Immersive port cruises include no more than two days at sea and an average of twelve hours in port, with overnight stays in Lisbon (Portugal), Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Las Palmas (Gran Canaria), and Casablanca (Morocco). In addition, some cruises include overnight stops in idyllic locations with vibrant nightlife, such as Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Funchal (Madeira), Portugal.
Including the Norwegian Sun, a total of nine NCL ships are sailing in European waters this summer. NCL's extensive range of European itineraries in 2022 includes voyages to the Greek Islands, the Norwegian Fjords, the Mediterranean, and the Canary Islands.
