Norwegian Cruise Line has shared details about its spa and fitness offerings for its highly anticipated new Prima-class ships, the Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva.
The first two of the six ships in this new, cutting-edge class will feature the cruise industry's first charcoal sauna at sea. The company has also incorporated several guest favorites, as well as new spa concepts in the new Mandara Spa and fitness areas, including thermal experiences, heated stone loungers, and a new two-story indoor cascading spa. These spaces on Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva, perfect havens for ultimate relaxation and escape, were designed by the award-winning architecture firm Rockwell Group.

As part of the innovative travel experiences offered by NCL's Prima Class, including the world's first three-level go-kart track at sea and dry free-fall water slides, NCL now introduces the cruise industry's first charcoal sauna. Inspired by Japanese and Korean wellness practices, the charcoal sauna uses a radiant heat system with an outer layer of charcoal, achieving temperatures between 30 and 50 degrees Celsius. Guests can recline on lounge chairs and relax while the sauna helps stimulate circulation and metabolism while eliminating toxins from the body. It also effectively treats stiffness and muscle tension, providing relief from back pain, headaches, and arthritis by promoting deep release of connective tissue and muscle tension.
The charcoal sauna is just one of eight thermal experiences available at the new Mandara Spa. Guests can also enjoy a variety of pampering experiences, including a salt steam room, as well as a number of industry-first spa experiences for cruise ships, such as an ice room, experiential showers, a floating salt pool, and an infrared sauna.
The company has also introduced several new spa services, including two new beds from the Gharieni Group: the Gharieni Wellmassage and the Gharieni Wellmassage5D. Other new additions to the catalog include: the Ocean Spa Wave Massage, the Musclease Aroma Spa Ocean Wrap, the Cellutox Aroma Spa Ocean Wrap, and the Zero Gravity Massage
The spa will also feature a relaxation area with 22 heated stone loungers. For guests seeking a more luxurious experience, there are 28 exclusive Spa Balcony Staterooms aboard the Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva, providing travelers with premium access to the renowned Mandara Spa and its array of thermal experiences.
The fitness center will also feature the new Performance Recovery Room, an engaging and interactive experience utilizing a selection of Hyperice products in workshops, group fitness classes, and services to maximize user benefits. The Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva will also offer guests' favorite spa and fitness amenities, including the Vitaly Pool, steam room, and Finnish sauna. The spa will offer a wide range of services in its 20 treatment rooms, including massages, acupuncture, manicures and pedicures, facials, and more. At the Pulse Fitness Center, guests will have complimentary access to state-of-the-art fitness equipment and can also enjoy yoga and spinning classes.
