In addition to the usual giants of the Santa Catalina dock (TUI Cruises, Aida Cruises or Marella), today there is the Vasco da Gama, from Nicko-Mystic Cruises, and, especially, the small luxury ship Azamara Journey, from Azamara, which in previous years had called at Las Palmas on its Atlantic transit but this season takes it as a home port.
The Azamara Journey belongs to the 'small luxury cruises' segment, like the Sea Cloud sailboats that are common in the Port of Las Palmas.
In the case of the Azamara Journey, operated by Bergé Marítima, its passengers are English-speaking, primarily from Great Britain and the United States. The Vasco da Gama, operated by Hamilton & Cia, carries passengers from Germany and Austria, among other countries.
Azamara Journey and Vasco da Gama have today received plaques from the Commercial Head of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, Juan Francisco Martín.
The Azamara Journey begins its winter season tomorrow, Saturday, from the Port of Las Palmas. Its itineraries, ranging from seven to eleven days, include a full day to visit Gran Canaria, in addition to the embarkation/disembarkation day. It will operate nine cruises to Madeira and the Canary Islands between December 2021 and February 2022.
For its part, the Vasco da Gama ship, also based in Las Palmas, has planned 11 itineraries of 11 days between the Canary Islands and Madeira and between the Canary Islands and Morocco, in addition to other 14-day itineraries between the Canary Islands and Cape Verde.
Of the 281 planned calls at the Port of Las Palmas in the current winter season 2021-22, 141 are home port operations.
