The Council of Ministers has officially appointed Álvaro Rodríguez Dapena as the new president of State Ports, replacing Francisco Toledo.
Rodríguez Dapena, born in 1963, holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, with an Extraordinary Doctoral Award.
Until now, he has held the position of Director of Planning and Development of State Ports and has 24 years of experience in the managing body of the Spanish port system.
Previously, he has also held, among others, the positions of technical director, deputy director of External Relations, head of the Logistics and Intermodality Area and head of the Technological and Regulatory Development Department of State Ports.
He is also a member of the boards of directors of the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras and Renfe Mercancías. He has also served as president of the Lighthouse Commission and Conterail, as well as a member of the boards of directors of the Port Authorities of Cartagena and Marín and the Pontevedra Estuary.
Before joining Puertos del Estado, he spent nine years working at Tema Grupo Consultor.
