The Viking Venus cruise ship has made its maiden call at Cruise Terminal 1 of the Port of Valencia's northern expansion. Cristina Rodríguez, Head of Sales and Clients at the Port Authority of Valencia (APV), and the ship's captain, Rune Loekling, carried out the customary exchange of a plaque and the traditional "Socarrat," the Valencian terracotta tile designed with maritime motifs that Valenciaport presents to ships docking for the first time at its facilities. At the ceremony, which was also attended by Miguel Marín of the shipping agency Pérez & Cía, the captain highlighted the quality and diversity of Valencia's cruise offerings and the operational efficiency of the Port of Valencia.
The Viking Venus, Viking's newest ocean-going vessel, arrived in Valencia after an inaugural voyage that departed a few days ago from Valletta, Malta, carrying 500 passengers and also visiting the Italian ports of Palermo and Cagliari. The Viking Venus is the newest ship in Viking's ocean-going fleet, which consists of identical sister ships. Viking's vessels have a gross tonnage of 47,800 tons and 465 cabins accommodating up to 930 guests. All cabins feature verandas, and the ships boast Scandinavian design, airy public spaces, and ample al fresco dining options.
