Princess Cruises set sail from the Port of Los Angeles, marking the first cruise departure from San Pedro since the cruise industry paused operations early last year. Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises, visited the Grand Princess to participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony, officially welcoming the first passengers aboard. Earlier in the week, she visited the ship to thank the officers and crew for being the stars of the show, which harks back to the history of cruise lines, including the ocean-going co-launch of the hit TV series “The Love Boat” and its 2018 induction into the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Princess Cruises, the Los Angeles-based cruise line, has been sailing from the Port of Los Angeles since 1965 and does so more frequently than any other cruise line. Over the past decade, Princess has made more than 700 calls in Los Angeles, more than any other cruise line in the same period.

Our crew members are eager to welcome guests aboard as we continue to resume operations in the United States,” said Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises. “We are grateful to the Port of Los Angeles for their support during the pause and are excited to work together once again.”.

The Grand Princess departs for a 5-day cruise to Cabo San Lucas, the first of 5 departures with this itinerary and the first of 11 departures from the Port of Los Angeles in 2021.
