The newest vessel in the AIDA fleet was presented to the world for the first time. The ship has left the construction bay at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg. Shortly before casting off, the final hull inspection and propeller installation were completed. All major technical installations on board are now finished, as the entire engine room and the special tanks for low-emission liquefied natural gas (LNG) were completed at NEPTUN WERFT in Warnemünde and shipped to Meyer Werft. Like its sister ship, the AIDAnova, the AIDAcosma will operate on liquefied natural gas.
Before the ship enters service in December 2021, the following steps will be taken: construction of all interior areas at the outfitting pier, sea trials, and final outfitting with the last preparations for welcoming the first passengers aboard the AIDAcosma. The AIDAcosma's godmother will be the exceptional athlete Kristina Vogel, and Captain Vincent Cofalka will be present for the christening and launch.
AIDA's newest ship will offer seven-day cruises to the Canary Islands during its inaugural winter season of 2021/2022. Prior to the Canary Islands program, passengers will enjoy a very special Christmas and New Year's cruise. The voyage from Hamburg to Gran Canaria begins on December 22, 2021.
The AIDAcosma offers guests exciting experiences such as the Beach Club, the Theatrium with its 360° stage, the television studio, and the spacious Body & Soul Organic Spa. Passengers can enjoy culinary delights at 17 restaurants and 17 bars. New features include a bouldering wall, the Fun Park with a double water slide, the expansive Ocean Deck at the stern, which spans the entire width of the ship, and the infinity pool with magnificent ocean views.
From April 13, 2022, the ship will embark on a relocation voyage to the Mediterranean and seven-day cruises to the treasures of the Mediterranean from Mallorca or Barcelona.
