New organization of the Commercial and Marketing and Innovation and Business Strategy areas at the Port of Barcelona

The Port of Barcelona has undergone an organizational restructuring with the creation of two new departments: Commercial and Marketing, and Innovation and Business Strategy. This new structure, effective since March 1st, aims to facilitate a faster adaptation to an increasingly dynamic port and logistics environment, and to help the Port become a true driver of economic recovery and growth.

The Innovation and Business Strategy area, led by Santiago Garcia-Milà and Emma Cobos and reporting to the President and the General Manager, is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Port of Barcelona's Fourth Strategic Plan. The development of the new 2021-2025 Strategic Plan will require a cross-cutting approach and the involvement of the entire Port of Barcelona community, as well as various technologically innovative sectors of the economy. The structure of this area focuses on the three main pillars of the Strategic Plan: environmental, social, and economic sustainability, incorporating innovation and digitalization as strategic drivers. This new area, with dual reporting lines, is also responsible for carrying out innovative projects aligned with the Port's vision for 2040.

The Commercial and Marketing Department, led by Carla Salvadó and reporting to the General Management, is responsible for defining and developing the Port of Barcelona's commercial activities. This department ensures that services are tailored to customer needs, promotes the Port's services to various clients, and conducts both quantitative and qualitative market research and analysis.

This organizational change has led to the creation of a general services office that will support both areas, making the most of available resources and the potential of the people involved.
