MSC Cruises postpones the restart of MSC Magnifica

MSC Cruises has announced today that, unfortunately, the company has to cancel the restart of MSC Magnifica until September 26.

Regarding the new measures implemented by Italian authorities for Italian residents traveling to Greece, we are seeing cancellations and weak demand, as the ship's itinerary includes three Greek ports. Therefore, we have had to make the decision to postpone the ship's restart by four weeks.

MSC Cruises believes bookings will rebound in the coming weeks thanks to the attractive itinerary. Sales for the MSC Magnifica are open to residents of the Schengen Area, and the majority of passengers in this initial phase are expected to be Italian nationals or residents.

As a result, MSC Magnifica sailings from August 29 to September 19 have been cancelled. The first cruise will depart from Bari, Italy, on September 26, and the itinerary will remain the same as planned.

Passengers affected by the cancelled cruises will be offered a booking on another cruise – specifically on the MSC Grandiosa, currently sailing the western Mediterranean – or will receive a Future Cruise Voucher which they can transfer the full amount paid for their cancelled cruise to a future cruise of their choice – on any ship and any itinerary – until the end of 2021.

MSC Grandiosa is currently running 7-night cruises departing from the Italian ports of Genoa, Civitavecchia, Naples and Palermo, and stopping in Valletta, Malta.

MSC Cruises confirmed last month the details of its 2020/2021 winter season, featuring more than 90 different itineraries across the Caribbean, Mediterranean, UAE, South Africa, South America, and Asia – all regions where MSC Cruises operates. The itineraries range from two to two nights, and include the third MSC World Cruise departing in January 2021, as well as an extensive Grand Voyages program.
