The Port Authority of Castellón has become the first port in Spain to obtain AENOR certification for its COVID-19 safety measures. This certification demonstrates PortCastelló's strong commitment to the safety of users and employees at all of the public body's facilities.
The AENOR certificate is an external endorsement of the effectiveness of the measures implemented by the Port Authority of Castellón and confirms that they meet and exceed the recommendations and requirements issued by national and international organizations regarding prevention and hygiene related to Covid-19.
The director of PortCastelló, Ana Ulloa, explained that “our objective is to protect the health of our users and employees and to provide a safe environment, so AENOR's endorsement of our work against Covid-19 confirms that the initiatives we have implemented are the right ones.” This objective is consistent with the quality of service and the commitment to continuous improvement of the Port Authority of Castellón.
Ana Ulloa stated that “the certification was achieved thanks to the work of the entire staff, from days before the health crisis was declared in Spain until today.” “We are all important in maintaining PortCastelló’s port logistics chain, and thanks to the commitment of our team, we have been able to adapt to adverse circumstances and keep all our services operational.”.
The assessment carried out by AENOR evaluates various aspects, including occupational health and safety management, training, information and communication, protective measures, and best practices for cleaning and hygiene in the organization's facilities and vehicles. The certification is valid for one year, but must undergo follow-up reviews every three months.
The Port Authority of Castellón, through its Occupational Health and Safety Committee, implemented specific actions such as signage for spaces, posters with recommendations, specific bins for disposable material such as gloves and masks, capacity limits in all rooms and offices, provision of hydroalcoholic gels and masks for staff, ozone generator for vehicle cleaning, and screens in public service areas, among others.
