The Viking Venus, the seventh ocean-going cruise ship with a capacity of 930 passengers, which Fincantieri is building for the Viking shipyard, was launched at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, Italy. Fincantieri will now begin work on the ship's interiors, with its debut scheduled for early 2021. The Viking Venus will spend its maiden season sailing itineraries in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.

Viking's ocean-going ships have a gross tonnage of 47,800 tons, with 465 cabins that can accommodate 930 passengers. The Viking Venus will join an award-winning ocean-going fleet of sister ships, including the Viking Star, delivered in 2015; the Viking Sea, Viking Sky, Viking Sun, and Viking Orion, delivered in 2016, 2017, and 2018; and the Viking Jupiter, which joined the fleet in February 2019. A further 10 ships will join the group between 2021 and 2027.
All Viking ships are built according to the latest navigation standards and equipped with state-of-the-art safety systems. They also feature energy-efficient engines and optimized hydrodynamics, as well as systems that minimize pollution, complying with the strictest environmental regulations.
