Pullmantur Cruises donates nearly ten tons of food and drinks to the Malaga City Council

Madrid, April 14, 2020 - Pullmantur Cruises - the only cruise line on the market that brings the Spanish lifestyle to the way of traveling on a cruise - has donated nearly seven tons of food to the Malaga City Council, including sausages, olive oil, coffee, nuts as well as dairy products, and three tons of drinks.

The products have been distributed among homeless shelters and various food distribution organizations, benefiting around 1,130 people.

The food has been distributed between two of the resources for homeless people (Municipal Shelter –CAM– and Intujoven Shelter in Torremolinos) and entities dedicated to food distribution (NAIM, the Nuevo San Andrés Neighborhood Association, the Lagunillas Neighborhood Association and Ángeles de la Noche), benefiting around 1,130 people.

According to Richard J. Vogel , President & CEO of Pullmantur Cruises , "these are foods – perfectly fit for consumption – that we had on board the Sovereign ship and that we wanted to donate to help all those families who are going through difficulties at this time."

As a company, Vogel adds, it is “our duty to always act responsibly, thinking of people and contributing value in one way or another.” In this regard, “we will continue to analyze the various opportunities available to organize new food donations,” he adds.

Likewise, the President & CEO of Pullmantur Cruises thanks Intercruises Malaga and Servimad for “their invaluable collaboration and support in carrying out the donation.”.

This donation follows a similar one made by the company to the Governor's Office of the Province of Colón (Panama), where the Monarch, another of its ships, is based. In that instance, Pullmantur Cruises donated nearly three tons of food, which were distributed among various shelters, soup kitchens, and homes, benefiting approximately 600 people.

The Sovereign ship docked in the Port of Malaga.
Since March 20, the Sovereign has been docked in the Port of Malaga and will remain in the Malaga capital until it resumes its cruise operations, which is scheduled to resume on May 30, 2020.
