Madrid, February 10, 2019.— BERGÉ, a leading logistics operator, reinforces its commitment to best practices in the cruise industry by receiving one of the 15 Excellence Awards—the premier awards in the cruise tourism sector that each year recognize companies which, based on cruise passengers’ own evaluations, have performed best in categories such as best port, cruise line, entertainment, ship, and crew, among others.

Thus, the award for best onboard entertainment will be presented to José Luis Carretero Palacios, Commercial Director of Cruises at BERGÉ, at a ceremony to be held on February 13 at the Rosalía de Castro Theater in A Coruña. The choice of this city is no coincidence, as it is one of the fastest-growing destinations for cruise tourism, with more than 100 port calls and some 200,000 passengers expected this year—a fact that has led to it hosting this event for the first time.
This year's Excellence Awards, organized by Cruises News Media Group since 2008, are expected to draw 300 professionals from the cruise industry, including national executives from leading cruise lines, ports, the cruise support industry, tourism services, travel agencies, tour operators, government agencies, the press, promotional organizations, and cruise passengers.
Spain is the second-largest market in Europe for this industry, welcoming 3 million visitors annually. In this context, BERGÉ handles 16% of the cruise ships that arrive in Spain each year—that is, approximately 700 cruise ships, carrying more than 1 million passengers. BERGÉ’s unique value in the sector lies in being the only company in Spain that provides a comprehensive service, offering support to both shipowners and major cruise lines in logistics and the stowage of provisions, agency and auxiliary services (customs clearance, as well as assistance to passengers and crew regarding transportation, accommodations, and baggage handling), and ship’s stores.
