The Spanish shipping company is betting on a very special season in the Norwegian Fjords in 2020, with 12 different itineraries between Rostock (Germany) and Trondheim (Norway), in one direction only, allowing it to visit a wide variety of different ports.

This is a destination that Pullmantur treats with care; not surprisingly, they received recognition from Cruises News at the 2018 Excellence Awards for their itineraries in this part of the world.
The Monarch will depart from Vigo on May 9th on a repositioning cruise ending in Rostock, from where it will embark on its first fjord voyage on May 16th. The final departure will be on August 29th. Twelve of the season's fourteen cruises will be to the fjords, and only two, in August, to the Baltic Sea. At the end of the season, the Monarch will return to Vigo or Lisbon for another repositioning cruise.

One of Pullmantur's most significant new features for 2020 is the stopover in Gothenburg, included in almost all departures. It's Sweden's second-largest city, after the capital Stockholm, with nearly 600,000 inhabitants. It's the largest and most commercially important port in the Nordic countries and, in addition to housing the headquarters of major Swedish companies, boasts two universities and no fewer than 10 trees per inhabitant. The architecture here seems quite exotic to Spanish eyes, with curious buildings like the Fish Market, which could easily pass for a Gothic church, or the Lilla Bommen, a curious building popularly known as the "lipstick." But where you'll truly fall in love with Gothenburg is in the pedestrianized Haga district, where all the buildings have stone ground floors and wooden upper floors. They couldn't be more photogenic, and the shops and cafes in the area are bohemian and eclectic.
The list of stops is very long, and also includes Bergen, Aarhus, Stavanger, Alesund, Molde, Eidfjord, Nordfjordeid, Skjolden, Haugesund and the city of Trondheim, the starting or ending point of the routes.
Each departure offers a great combination of stops between Nordic cities and the breathtaking nature of the Fjords, with excursions to mythical places like Pulpit Rock, the Voringfossen waterfall, the Kjendal glacier, or the incredible Troll Road in Alesund.

This season, Pullmantur is offering 12 departures to the Norwegian Fjords from May to August.
