Pilar Fernández-Fígares will be the new manager of Málagaport, whose work will focus on developing strategies to boost cruise and cargo traffic at the port, as well as coordinating Málagaport's communication policy in relation to the Port Authority and supporting the organization of the Seatrade Med 2020 international trade fair.
Professional career
Pilar Fernández-Fígares (1973) holds a degree in Law from the University of Granada, and has extensive experience in the legal sector.
In addition, she held the position of Deputy Mayor for Personnel and Resource Management at the Estepona City Council and was Deputy for Human Resources and General Services at the Malaga Provincial Council before joining as manager of Malagaport.
“I assume – with great enthusiasm and responsibility – this new position at Malagaport, representing the promotion and expansion of the port – and therefore – the city of Malaga through cruise tourism; and the creation of employment and economic growth in our Andalusia through such an interesting sector as that of products, goods and trade,” declared Fernández-Fígares.

For more than a decade, Málagaport has supported business development and entrepreneurial activity in the areas of tourism, transport and trade related to the port area by creating strategies and actions that improve the results of its activity and enhance its competitiveness at the local, national and international level.
The port authority also assumes a social commitment of an informative nature to publicize the citizen spaces by establishing a close relationship with associations, public institutions and media.
