“The arrival of the Costa Luminosa for the 2020/21 winter season reflects Costa’s desire to strategically support the South American market, a market with great growth potential. Therefore, we want to gradually increase our presence in the region,” stated Dario Rustico, Managing Director of Costa Cruises for Central and South America.

An expanded operation

With the arrival of the Costa Luminosa, the company significantly expands its presence in South America, a region where it had already announced the positioning of the Costa Fascinosa and the Costa Pacifica for the 2020/21 winter season.

The Costa Fascinosa, which will set sail for South America from Savona in mid-November 2020, will be based in Santos, Brazil. The cruise ship will sail along the northern coast of Brazil, calling at destinations such as Buzios, Salvador, Ilheus, and Ilha Grande.

Following its transatlantic voyage departing from Genoa on November 13, 2019, the Costa Pacifica's itineraries will primarily focus on exploring Argentina, Uruguay, and southern Brazil. Calls on this voyage are scheduled in Buenos Aires, the Brazilian destinations of Ilhabela, Búzios, Rio de Janeiro, and Ilha Grande, and the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo.

Meanwhile, the Costa Luminosa will also depart from Santos for seven-night itineraries to Itajaí in Brazil, Buenos Aires, and Montevideo. The ship's repositioning cruise, which will take it from Venice to South America, will depart from the Italian city on November 8, 2020.
