MSC Cruises enhances its award-winning family offering on board the MSC Grandiosa with new activities and a web series

MSC Cruises today revealed more details about its new family offerings for younger passengers. These activities will debut on the MSC Grandiosa, the company's new flagship, which will be launched next November.

Each year, MSC Cruises welcomes more than 350,000 children aboard its ships, for whom it designs a comprehensive entertainment program with hundreds of hours of activities every week. Among the amenities is a 700 m² space dedicated exclusively to children—with areas differentiated by age—as well as impressive water parks and virtual reality games. In addition, there are new activities on MSC Grandiosa: MSC Dance Crew, The Drone Academy , and Spy Kids, as well as a new web series aimed at teenagers.

Matteo Mancini, Director of Children's Entertainment at MSC Cruises, notes: “There is a growing number of teenagers traveling with us, and specifically, the 13-17 age group represents 40% of our young passengers. This has driven the development of new entertainment activities focused on them, such as a new web series dedicated to teenagers. We are delighted to launch MSC Dance Crew, Spy Kids, and The Drone Academy on board MSC Grandiosa, as well as 'Cabin 12006,' a web series for teenagers that will be ready early next year.”.

NEW ENTERTAINMENT ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN COMING SOON ON MSC GRANDIOSA

  • MSC DANCE CREW: A new dance competition experience designed for young people aged 12 to 17, who will compete to be the best dance crew on board. This initiative was developed in collaboration with Fremantle, the production company behind shows like Idol, The X Factor, and Got Talent.
  • THE DRONE ACADEMY: The MSC Grandiosa Sportsplex will host a unique drone relay race with light shows, fluorescent effects, and other light displays. Teenagers will learn to fly these drones before joining this team competition, where they will have to navigate the 390m² track, dodging obstacles in the shortest time possible.
  • SKY KIDS: Children play a central role in this new immersive spy experience. Each participant will explore different scenarios throughout the ship to unravel unique stories, follow clues, and solve the mystery to win MSC Cruises prizes.

The new teen web series 'Cabin 12006' will premiere in early 2020

Following the success of Kelly & Kloe, the MSC Cruises children's web series, which already has more than five million views, the company now presents a new series specifically for teenagers.

The web series will consist of seven episodes, in which teenager Markus embarks on his first cruise adventure. A vacation that will turn into a completely unexpected adventure…

Cabin 12006 on the MSC Bellissima is full of questions and surprises, and it will be up to Markus and his friend Lucas to solve the mystery with the help of ZOE, MSC Cruises' virtual personal cruise assistant. Meanwhile, two young people who dream of building their careers on board embark on a unique internship, where there will also be room for a love story. The series was written and filmed in collaboration with Viacom, the group behind channels like the children's channel Nickelodeon. This ensures an original, authentic, and high-quality series.

The series features well-known names such as Luciano Spinelli, Max & Harvey, Matteo Markus Bok, Sespo, Valerio Mazzei, and Rosalba, along with the UNICEF Ambassadors Kids United partnership. Together, they boast millions of followers on social media and are known to children of all ages worldwide. Fans of Kelly & Kloe are in for a treat: the two characters also appear in Cabin 12006. Filming is already underway on the MSC Bellissima, and it will air in early 2020. For those who haven't yet watched Kelly & Kloe, all three seasons are available at kellyandkloe.com.

MASTERCHEF JUNIORS AT SEA

During 2019, the MasterChef Juniors at Sea experience, which started last October on MSC Seaview, is being expanded to the entire MSC Cruises fleet, so all young MSC Cruises passengers will be able to participate in this culinary competition.

Developed to spark children's interest in cooking and promote healthy eating, this activity teaches culinary techniques and fosters creativity in the kitchen. The exclusive recipes for this experience are designed by Rukmini Iyer, a 2013 MasterChef contestant and author of two bestselling cookbooks.
