Madrid, November 2, 2018 – The professionals at Pullmantur Cruises – the only cruise line on the market offering a 100% Spanish product – had a very special visit today: more than 60 children, the sons and daughters of its employees. The schoolchildren are participating this morning in the first fun and educational day organized by the company for its youngest employees at its offices. This event is closely linked to Somos Trotanautas (WeAre Travelers), the new children's onboard entertainment program based on human intelligence that the cruise line recently launched.
This initiative – promoted by the Human Resources Department – seeks to contribute to the reconciliation of the professional and personal life of Pullmantur Cruises employees since today, Friday (November 2) is a working day but not a school day.
Pullmantur Cruises President & CEO Richard J. Vogel states that “the objective of this event is twofold.” On the one hand, as a company, “we must promote and support initiatives that make it easier for our teams to organize themselves and balance their personal and professional lives.” On the other hand, “we want the youngest participants to experience firsthand what it means to be Trotanautas while enjoying a fun day with other children.”
From 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.: fun is guaranteed
From 8:00 a.m., a team of monitors and early childhood education specialists are in charge of welcoming the children (between 3 and 12 years of age) in rooms specially decorated for the occasion, as well as dividing them into groups according to school cycles.
Following the welcome and the distribution of the Trotanauta passport, a series of activities, specially planned for this day, have begun. These activities—like Somos Trotanautas—are based on different types of intelligence.
Highlights include games for young children to get to know each other, dance and movement activities, a mini chef workshop, and various scavenger hunts. In short, a whole morning of fun.
We are Trotanautas: new in-flight entertainment program
Based on human intelligence, this unique proposal - which begins the moment the children board - has been developed by psychologists and experts in children's entertainment and includes, for the first time, activities aimed at children up to 3 years old (always accompanied by their parents).
We Are Trotanautas revolves around the Trotanautas gang, made up of six graphic characters who represent six of the eight human intelligences: naturalist (Flor), spatial (Leonard), linguistic (Eme), musical (Sol), bodily-kinesthetic (As), and logical (Mercury). Each member has a special skill so that all children can identify with a Trotanauta. Meanwhile, the other two intelligences (interpersonal and intrapersonal) are addressed throughout all the activities. For the youngest children (up to 3 years old), Zip, the most innocent character in the group, has been created.
From the moment they board, the children become Trotanautas and receive their passports, where they stamp all their adventures. They also learn the Trotanauta greeting and language, as well as their own song. Every day, along with the rest of their companions and always accompanied by the Trotacoaches, they face a new, fun, and unexpected mission proposed by Dr. Pull, which will bring them countless surprises.
