The Mein Schiff 6, from the German cruise line TUI Cruises, was built by Meyer Turku Shipyard in Finland, as were its sister ships. It is the newest addition to the company's fleet, having completed its maiden voyage in June 2017. It has a gross tonnage of 99,500 GT, a length of 294 meters, and can accommodate approximately 2,500 passengers and 1,030 crew members.
TUI Cruises, a cruise line specializing in premium cruise holidays for German-speaking customers, also offers excellent value for money for those who appreciate comfort and fine dining. In 2016, the company's ships, the Mein Schiff 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, made inaugural calls in Gibraltar, becoming a major customer for the island and increasing the number of calls from 9 in 2016 to 24 scheduled for this year.
As with other inaugural calls, an informal ceremony took place in which plaques were exchanged between the ship's captain, representatives of the Gibraltar Tourist Board, the Gibraltar Port Authority, and local Incargo agents.
