Among the strategic initiatives of the Balearic Islands Port Authority (APB) at Seatrade Cruise Global in Florida, the presentation of the 'Mediterranean Routes' plays a key role. This new product will take cruise passengers to the main islands of the Western Mediterranean.
Under the coordination of Joan Gual de Torrella, president of the APB, the regional, local and port authorities representing the cities of Maó, Ajaccio, Alghero, Messina and Valletta-Malta, have shared the design of a cruise network covering the islands of the Western Mediterranean.
While the project was already beginning to emerge at the Seatrade Cruise Med held last September in Tenerife, it wasn't until the Seatrade Cruise Global event in Florida, the most important cruise fair in the world, that the creation of the route was made official.
A route whose main attraction is the exaltation of the elements of identity, the monumental and landscape quality, the common historical past, the gastronomy and the sustainable tourism development of the cities in which it will stop.
European cruise passengers, given Palma's excellent air connections to their main airports, would likely depart from this port. Americans, on the other hand, could depart from Barcelona or Rome.
