Celebrity Cruises has revealed some details of its new ship (still under construction), Celebrity Edge, which will feature more spacious staterooms, an exterior platform that rises and falls along the side of the ship, the Magic Carpet, and spectacular suites that will set a new standard in naval design. Designed entirely in 3D with the work of top-tier architects and designers, the Celebrity Edge, with a capacity for 2,918 passengers, aims to transform the way discerning travelers experience the world and discover just how intimate a vacation on board can be.

Celebrity Cruises has maximized the potential of its first new class of ship in 10 years, boasting a team of top architects and designers from around the world, including renowned designer Kelly Hoppen MBE of Kelly Hoppen Interiors and visionary architect Tom Wright of WKK. American Nate Berkus serves as the "Design Ambassador" for Celebrity Edge.
Revolutionary staterooms that create a much closer connection with the ocean: the Edge Stateroom with Infinity Window transforms the rooms into fluid, continuous spaces, from the door to the water's edge. The ultimate sanctuary for travelers will be the new private space called The Retreat, featuring its private plunge pool at The Retreat Sundeck. This unique space will also include The Retreat Lounge, which will elevate the Celebrity Edge to new levels of style and sophistication and offer 24-hour butler service, in addition to the exclusive Suite Class Luminae @ The Retreat.
With the Celebrity Edge, Celebrity has doubled the number of available suites, adding two new categories: Iconic Suites, located above the ship's bridge, are two-bedroom, two-bathroom suites measuring approximately 240 square meters and boasting incredible views thanks to the panoramic windows surrounding the dining room, living room, and bedrooms. The 65-square-meter terrace offers a 270-degree ocean view. Edge Villas offer spectacular views, a private pool, and direct access to The Retreat Sundeck. Hoppen also designed the two Penthouse Suites with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, featuring enormous soaking tubs on the terrace, large double showers, and spacious walk-in closets, in addition to the 146 spacious, exterior Sky Suites. All Edge-class suites and double staterooms feature exclusive design, cashmere mattresses—a first in the industry—personal butler service, and access to The Retreat.
The Rooftop Garden, tended daily by a horticulturist, is the perfect place for passengers to enjoy activities throughout the day. In the evening, there will be live music and film and food pairings. Located on one side of the ship, the Magic Carpet will make the silhouette of Celebrity Edge recognizable for miles around. The size of a tennis court, it moves from Deck 16 to Deck 4 during the day and night, making every experience unique and unforgettable. On Deck 16, it transforms into an innovative specialty restaurant for 90 guests. On Deck 14, the Magic Carpet becomes an open-air pool area, and on Deck 2, it is a key element of the Destination Gatewaya luxury craft station where passengers wait to be taken aboard the Edge Launches.,
Celebrity Edge will be based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and will embark on its maiden voyage on December 16, 2018, with two 7-night itineraries: one through the Eastern Caribbean, visiting San Juan, Puerto Rico; Tortola, British Virgin Islands; and St. Maarten; and another through the Western Caribbean, stopping in Key West, Florida; Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico; and George Town, Grand Cayman. Celebrity Edge will be joined by three new sister ships in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
