Oceania Cruises travelers will have the opportunity to take the 180-day Around the World cruise that the company has just launched for 2019, with the possibility of embarking in New York (January 11, 2019), Miami (January 14) or Los Angeles (January 30).
“The 2019 World Cruise offers guests a specially designed itinerary encompassing approximately 100 captivating destinations and dozens of UNESCO World Heritage sites. It is truly the trip of a lifetime,” said Bob Binder, President and CEO of Oceania Cruises. “The three embarkation options planned for 2019 provide guests with greater flexibility to make their travel choices easier.”.
On board the Insignia, with a capacity for 684 passengers, the cruise will sail more than 45,000 nautical miles across two oceans and 16 seas, visiting 90 destinations in 36 countries.
The route
The cruise line's proposed route follows the sun to the Hawaiian Islands and the Pacific before heading south for adventures in New Zealand and Australia. The Insignia will also explore the wonders of Asia, the Holy Land, and the classic destinations of the Mediterranean before sailing to New England, Canada, and Bermuda.
The itinerary includes a total of 14 overnight stays in port, including:
- Bali (Benoa), Indonesia– A paradise where passengers will find volcanoes and ancient Hindu temples in its lush landscape, not forgetting the traditional Balinese dance.
- Hong Kong, China – A combination of the old and the new, this city's personality shines through in its lively markets, skyscrapers, famous monasteries, etc.
- Yangon, Myanmar – This city of golden temples is dotted with shrines, colonial-era buildings, and open-air markets. No traveler should miss the enormous 2,500-year-old Shwedagon Pagoda.
- Luxor (Safaga), Egypt– Known by many as the world's largest open-air museum, Luxor amazes its visitors with ancient monuments such as the majestic temples of Karnak and Luxor, the Valley of the Kings with the tomb of Tutankhamun, the Colossi of Memnon, etc.
This world cruise also includes a wide range of activities for travelers. These include:
- Tokyo, Japan – Passengers can step back in time during an authentic tea ceremony and Kabuki and ninja performances at the historic Meguro Gajoen hotel, which features gardens and rooms decorated with works of art.
- Jerusalem, Israel – Recent excavations at Old Acre (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) have revealed a mysterious complex of rooms built by the Knights Templar. Visitors will be welcomed with a cocktail before enjoying dinner.
- Bordeaux, France– Travelers will visit an 18th-century family estate, where they can enjoy a vintage dinner made with local farm-to-table products.
