Oceania Cruises announces the launch of its trips to Cuba

Oceania Cruises has unveiled its first three inaugural cruises from Miami to Cuba. On December 7, the company announced it had received official approval from the Cuban government to operate cruises to the island beginning in March 2017. The line announced it will inaugurate its Cuba route with one 14-day and two 10-day cruises aboard the ship Marina. These voyages will stop in the historic city of Havana, offering an overnight stay on two of the itineraries so guests can enjoy this destination for two full days.

All trips comply with U.S. federal regulations and the most recent pronouncements of the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

“We are incredibly excited to have received approval from Cuban authorities to offer cruises to Cuba from the United States aboard our ship, Marina. I believe there is no better way to experience Cuba’s unique culture, beauty, and diversity than on a cruise,” said Frank Del Rio, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., the parent company of Oceania Cruises. “As a Cuban-American and founder of Oceania Cruises, I am incredibly proud that Marina is the first ship in our fleet to sail to Cuba. Marina was not only the first vessel built for Oceania Cruises, but she also showcases a multi-million dollar collection of Cuban-American art, making our voyages to Cuba even more special.”.

In Havana, guests can enjoy a wide variety of excursions to choose from. These will offer an authentic Cuban experience, providing an opportunity to learn about the people, music, art, history, and culture of the island, in compliance with OFAC regulations. To give guests a broader perspective on Cuba and its people, we will have specialists on board who will deliver engaging presentations about Cuba's past, present, and future.
