The Port of the Bay of Cadiz plans to receive 280 cruise ship calls next year, which represents a 3 percent increase compared to the current year, which is expected to close with 272.
According to forecasts already released by shipping agents for 2017, peak activity will again be concentrated in the spring and autumn, specifically in the months of April, May, September, October, and November, when more than 30 port calls per month are expected in all of them. The months with the fewest ships will be January and February.
Throughout the year, up to 25 days, three passenger ships will be in the port of Cádiz simultaneously, and on April 9th and July 26th, four will be there at the same time. Additionally, five cruise ship calls are scheduled for April 26th.
It is also worth noting the large size of the ships announced during these three days, which in the case of July 26, two exceed 330 meters in length and the other two, 270, with a total capacity to accommodate almost 17,000 people between them all.
Also noteworthy in the 2017 forecast is the significant presence of large ships, with 47 percent of cruise ships exceeding 280 meters in length, 20 of which are over 300 meters long, with the high volume of passengers and crew that this entails.
