Pullmantur Cruises has announced its operations at the Port of Alicante. The cruise line will conduct six embarkation operations in the city between October 9th and December 13th, with plans to bring on board 4,000 passengers. These will be joined by approximately 5,000 cruise passengers arriving in Alicante to explore the city before continuing on to Civitavecchia (Rome), Livorno (Florence/Pisa), Villefranche (Monaco/Nice), and Málaga.
The arrival of the Zenith cruise ship will have a significant economic impact on the city of Alicante, with an estimated average daily expenditure of €62 per passenger during port calls, a figure that rises to €81 at the ports of embarkation. In addition to passenger spending, the ship's crew, comprised of approximately 600 people, also contributes to the overall cost.
Juan Antonio Gisbert, President of the Alicante Port Authority, described Pullmantur's upcoming calls as "a historic milestone, as it is the first time that an international company, with a Spanish brand, has chosen the Port of Alicante as a base for its passengers to embark." He also thanked the company "for its positive assessment of the service provided, as well as the infrastructure investments made at the port for this type of traffic.".
Furthermore, Gisbert believes it is “an important day not only for the port, but for the entire city, which will benefit from the wealth generated by Pullmantur passengers.” Therefore, he believes that “we must all make an effort to ensure that those who visit us through this channel speak highly of their experience, becoming advocates for our tourism offerings.”.
