The “Saga Pearl II”, belonging to the British shipping company Saga Cruises, has opened a new cruise season in the port of Ferrol, where more than 15,000 tourists are expected to arrive until June.
The Ferrol-San Cibrao Port Authority considers the arrival of these types of vessels to the city "important," as they have a "satisfactory" influence on commerce, hospitality and, in general, the entire tourism sector, especially in the historic center, as could be seen in previous seasons.
The “Saga Pearl II”, which already visited the naval city in November, arrived this time from Southampton (England) and will depart this afternoon for Motril (Granada), after having passed, at the end of last March, through other national points such as Tenerife or Fuerteventura.
This is the first of nine cruise ships that have already agreed to arrive in the Ferrol estuary with a deadline of next June, the next one being the "Balmoral", with 1,200 crew members inside, on Thursday, April 14.
The highlight of the season will be, for the moment, the “Aida Prima”, the new flagship of the Aida shipping company, which accommodates a total of 4,200 passengers in its 300 meters of length, who will visit the city for ten hours on Tuesday, April 19.
Meanwhile, the “Horizon”, from the Pullmantur company, will become the first ship with a predominantly French passenger fleet to dock in Ferrol on May 19th, and for this reason the Port Authority announces that they are making efforts to secure new cruises in the neighboring country's market.
Also, in the newly launched campaign, the curiosity arises that the “Wind Legend”, of the Windstar Cruises company, will make a stop twice in Curuxeiras, once on June 12 and the next on August 17.
A delegation from the Port Authority, headed by José Manuel Vilariño, was present last March at Seatrade Cruise Global, with the intention of showcasing the advantages and attractions of the region for shipping companies.
