Norwegian Cruise Line announces changes to its entertainment offerings on the Norwegian Escape and the Norwegian Getaway

For the Record takes center stage on the Norwegian Escape, and the Broadway hit, Million Dollar Quartet, can be enjoyed on the Norwegian Getaway.

Norwegian Cruise Line has announced exciting changes to the entertainment offerings on the two newest ships in its fleet, the Norwegian Escape and the Norwegian Getaway.

Due to the overwhelming success of the dinner show at the Norwegian Escape's Supper Club, For the Record: The Brat Pack™ will be offered to a wider audience as a complimentary show in the Escape Theater beginning April 16. Having garnered rave reviews on the Norwegian Escape, For the Record is a critically acclaimed Hollywood night out that pays homage to classic film soundtracks from cinematic masters. Audiences spend the evening with a brainiac, an athlete, a hopeless case, a princess, and a criminal in this retrospective mashup of John Hughes's 1980s teen movies. Viewers will laugh, cry, tap their feet to the music, and relive classic themes from iconic films such as Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Pretty in Pink, and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Beginning April 9, the Supper Club will offer a new dinner and live entertainment experience; details will be announced soon. The Tony Award-winning Broadway hit, After Midnight, starring superstar Brenda Braxton, will continue unchanged at the Escape Theater.

As For the Record moves to the Escape Theater, the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Million Dollar Quartetwill cease its run aboard the Norwegian Escape on March 5 and return to the Norwegian Getaway on May 15. Million Dollar Quartet is a smash-hit musical inspired by the famous recording session that brought together rock 'n' roll icons Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins for the first and only time in history. Million Dollar Quartet relives that legendary night through rock 'n' roll hits such as "Blue Suede Shoes," "Fever," "Great Balls of Fire," and "Walk the Line," among others. Legally Blonde will cease its run on the Norwegian Getaway on April 30, and Burn the Floor will continue as part of the current schedule.

From March 5th to April 16th, the opening date of For the Record, the Escape Theater will present Vocal Over Drive, a contemporary a cappella pop group. Featuring five prodigious musicians, this explosive vocal band performs a cappella for Norwegian guests, performing songs from hit movies like Pitch Perfect. Vocal Over Drive recreates the sound of a full band using only their voices, delivering an unforgettable, high-voltage theatrical experience. With their funky rhythms and award-winning a cappella vocals, Vocal Over Drive has toured the world, leaving hundreds of thousands of audiences speechless and delivering the show of a lifetime every time they take the stage. Thanks to their innovative fusion of harmony, dance, and comedy, this musical show captivates both young and adult audiences. The group will perform at the Getaway Theater from May 1st to 15th, the opening date of Million Dollar Quartet.

“Norwegian is at the forefront with our offering of highly entertaining, fun, and vibrant shows for guests across our fleet,” said Richard Ambrose, Vice President of Entertainment for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. “These new additions to our entertainment offerings will allow us to remain at the forefront of the industry, providing our guests with the latest and most award-winning shows.”

Reservations for any of these entertainment experiences can be made through guests' My NCL accounts starting March 1, 2016.
