The founder and president of the tour operator Politours, Manuel Buitrón, has received public recognition from the tourism sector by being named a leading figure in Spanish tourism in Latin America, for having innovated and opened numerous routes in that region.
The tribute took place during the XIX Ibero-American Conference of Ministers and Businessmen of Tourism (CIMET), where he was awarded the organization's Gold and Diamond Badge.
The businessman was described in the presentation as a "travel craftsman" who has always given a personal touch to all his projects, in addition to being a "tireless worker".
Buitrón incorporated Mexico and Central America into his company's travel program and more than thirty years ago Politours was the first independent operator to fly to Cuba, among other highlights of his career.
During his speech, the honoree summarized his professional activity since he started in the family business with his father in the seventies and took the opportunity to criticize the tax system, which he accuses of having an "insatiable voracity" and of putting "too many obstacles".
He concluded his speech with a proposal to include the Philippines, a country with which he is currently working and which Spain "has turned its back on," in future CIMET summits, recalling the Hispanic heritage in this country.
