Ferrol will receive at least twelve cruise ship calls this year in a span of just two months.
As can be seen in the promotions of the different shipping companies, between mid-August and the end of October that is the number of berths that are advertised, although there may be last minute variations that could result in fewer cruises or also more.
For the moment, it is indicated that the Sirena , from the Oceania cruise line, will arrive on August 14. Two more cruise ships will call that month. September, which will be particularly busy, will see a total of five cruise ships, most notably the Horizon , carrying mostly French passengers and belonging to the Pullmantur company. As La Voz reported on May 6, this expands the range of cruise lines operating in the naval city.
In October, four passenger ship moorings from the companies Fred Olsen, Aida and Saga will be recorded.
These are the details that are emerging so far until the Ferrol-San Cibrao Port Authority officially announces the schedule for this year. The authority, headed by José Manuel Vilariño, has already confirmed that it plans to exceed twenty port calls again in 2016, a very significant number for the city.
However, we will have to wait for the first stop. It will be the Saga Sapphire, operated by Saga Shipping, on February 24th, which is already a regular call, demonstrating this shipping company's interest in the city.
The Port Authority is also continuing its efforts to secure new port calls for future years. As part of this effort, it plans to attend Seatrade Cruise Global, held in Florida (USA) from March 14-17, in conjunction with the State Ports Authority. This is one of the world's largest cruise industry events, and approximately 500 exhibitors have already confirmed their participation.
