The Balearic Islands Port Authority (APB) has stated that the General Budgets for 2015 include, based on its proposal, the maximum discount allowed by law for tourist cruise ship calls at the ports of Maó and Alcúdia, in order to encourage this traffic and contribute to the economic and social development of the surrounding area.
Specifically, since January 1st, cruise ships calling at these two ports have a 40% discount on both the ship tax and the passenger tax, as highlighted by the Balearic Islands Port Authority in a statement.
Likewise, with the same objective, the APB also applies in 2015 in the port of Maó a bonus for the regular transport of goods and passengers, with a reduction of twenty percent of the fees of the ship, the passenger and the goods.
The ports of Palma, Ibiza and La Savina also apply in 2015 bonuses to cruise ships that call at their facilities, ranging from five to thirty percent, depending on the season, the number of stops, the length and other specific application conditions.
Furthermore, the APB maintains for 2015 the reduction that it has already been applying in past years of thirty percent in the passenger tax and ten percent in the cargo tax in the five ports of general interest that it manages to contribute to the incentive of the economic activity of the Islands.
Furthermore, it should be remembered that the APB applies in its ports the maximum discount allowed by law for the island fact in the fees for maritime services with other ports located outside the archipelago.
Specifically, forty percent on ship and cargo taxes, forty-five percent on passengers, and sixty percent on vehicles in transport.
Thus, it estimates that the reduction in its income for 2015 as a result of the application of these bonuses and rate reductions will be around fourteen million euros.
On the other hand, he pointed out that fishing and recreational vessels that are not based in a Spanish port will only have to pay the Navigation Aids fee – known as T0 – for the days of stay in Spanish jurisdictional waters, by virtue of the entry into force on January 1 of the General State Budget Law for the year 2015.
Thus, the fee that these ships will have to pay will result from dividing the fee indicated for vessels based in Spanish ports by the number of days in the year and multiplying by the days of stay in Spanish waters.
Furthermore, the exemption from the T0 tax is maintained for recreational vessels based in a Spanish port and with a length equal to or less than twelve meters if they are sailed, and the single payment upon registration of the vessel for motor vessels with a length of less than nine meters.
