The Cruise Training Vigo: The Cruise Destination event held on January 22nd was a resounding success in terms of participation, demonstrating the continued interest of the city of Vigo in increasing and improving its activity in the cruise sector.
The course taught by Cruises News Media Group has brought together professionals and students from the city of Vigo interested in expanding their knowledge of the sector and learning about the key factors that make shipping companies call at this important port and cruise destination.
During the event, the President of the Port Authority, Mr. Ignacio López-Chaves, announced the significant investments made by the port and its commitment to cruise traffic, highlighting the economic impact this has on the city of Vigo. Montserrat Otero, General Administration Technician for the Pontevedra Provincial Council, outlined not only the promotional activities undertaken by the council but also its willingness to collaborate more closely with the port authority on this important tourism segment. Virginia López Valiente, General Manager of Cruises News Media Group, presented the key factors that influence cruise lines' itinerary decisions. Major Anglo-Saxon cruise lines frequently visit the Port of Vigo, making British tourists the most numerous visitors to this destination.

In the second session, Nani Arenas gave a presentation on the factors that make a cruise passenger leave satisfied with a destination and encourage them to return. The best way to win over cruise passengers is by adapting to their needs. Félix González provided key insights into how to influence cruise passenger spending, considering that 60% stay in the city without taking excursions, and explained methods for reaching this audience before their trip.
To conclude and before the round table, which was received with great interest by the public present, Ramón Huidobro, Secretary General DO Rías Baixas, conveyed the idea of associating a quality figure such as DO Rías Baixas in this case, linked to a territory and a geography.
