In September, another ship in the Costa fleet, the Costa Luminosa, will make a second round-the-world cruise, which will also depart from Barcelona.
Costa Cruises is once again offering a truly unique adventure in 2015: a four-month holiday with a round-the-world cruise. The Costa Deliziosa, one of the most exclusive ships in the Costa fleet, will depart from Barcelona on January 8th for a voyage that will last until May 1st, 2015. Passengers will discover five continents and sail the seven seas, just as the great navigators of the past did. This cruise is designed to meet the expectations of both seasoned cruisers and passionate cruisers, who will enjoy a unique experience circumnavigating the globe in 115 days, visiting 40 destinations in 18 countries along the route.
This historic route was revived by Costa in 2011, after a 17-year hiatus. Following its tremendous success, it has become a landmark for the Italian company. The big news for this year's round-the-world voyage lies in the route itself. The ship will explore the Southern Hemisphere, visiting stunning destinations such as Brazil, Argentina, Tierra del Fuego, Cape Horn, Chile, Easter Island, Polynesia, New Zealand, Australia, Mozambique, South Africa, and Namibia. To follow the Costa Deliziosa's fantastic journey from home, two webcams installed on board will broadcast the voyage live.
The 2015 World Cruise will carry approximately 2,500 passengers from 35 countries, primarily from Spain, France, Italy, and Germany. The Costa Luminosa, sister ship of the Costa Deliziosa, is scheduled to depart from Barcelona on September 16, 2015, for a second 98-day World Cruise. This itinerary will include Spain, the Caribbean, Mexico, the USA, New Zealand, Australia, China, India, and the United Arab Emirates.
To celebrate the Costa Deliziosa's departure today, numerous celebrations have been planned involving both ports and ships. The Palacrociere terminal in Savona will be decorated with yellow and blue balloons and evocative photographs. To recreate the departures of the great cruise ships of the past, a band will play during embarkation. Passengers will also be able to experience the wonders of this special atmosphere of legendary voyages abroad, receiving a welcome aboard from 'Christopher Columbus' and 'Queen Elizabeth'.
A special selection of international artists will perform during the different stages of the cruise, offering lively live shows: from acrobatics to flamenco shows; from a Beatles tribute band to tango groups; from a ventriloquist to folk shows.
Shore excursions throughout the itinerary will be arranged to make this round-the-world trip an unforgettable experience. During the journey, you will discover the breathtaking landscapes of the Perito Moreno Glacier in Patagonia; admire the Magdalena Island Penguin Reserve; snorkel in Papeete; visit the Pinnacle Desert in Perth; explore the Blue Mountains and the mysterious Ayers Rock monolith during the three-day stopover in Sydney; and experience an exhilarating helicopter flight over Cape Town's three harbors.
For 2016, Costa Cruises has already begun planning another major Round the World cruise, departing from Barcelona for the Spanish market, aboard the Costa Luminosa (from January 8 to April 23, 2016).
