The ship, which will join the Seabourn fleet in spring 2018, will be built to the standards and technical solutions that make Seabourn one of the most prestigious brands in the ultra-luxury segment. It will be a sister ship to the one announced earlier this year, which is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2016. These ships are part of the fleet modernization that began in 2009.
The all-suite ship will be approximately 40,350 gross tons, 210 meters long and 28 meters wide, and will be able to reach a cruising speed of 18.6 knots. It will accommodate only 604 guests in 302 spacious suites, all with private balconies.
Safety will be one of this vessel's main strengths. It will be built using the latest technologies, exceeding existing regulations. Fuel consumption will be significantly reduced through hydrodynamic optimization.
“There has been an incredible amount of excitement and interest since we announced the order for the first ship, and we are delighted that the demand for our brand has allowed us to add a second new ultra-luxury vessel to our growing fleet,” said Richard D. Meadows, Chairman of Seabourn. “These two new ships will offer our signature elegance, as well as new facilities, innovations, and modern design features that embody the hallmarks of Seabourn.”.
Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Fincantieri, stated: “When it comes to such significant investments, no option should ever be taken for granted. We are very pleased that Seabourn has decided to double down on its confidence in us, especially considering that our relationship is very new and growing stronger all the time. I believe this clearly demonstrates that new clients, as well as long-standing ones like Seabourn’s parent company, Carnival Corporation, and the market as a whole, consider Fincantieri the world leader in cruise ship construction, including the ultra-luxury segment.”.
