The christening of the Regina del Mediterraneo will take place in Genoa on November 7, but the celebrations for the new flagship begin this weekend at the Fincantieri shipyards in Marghera (Venice).
Costa Cruises is proud to present the fleet's new flagship with a series of special events, starting this weekend and leading up to the christening on November 7 in Genoa.
On October 25, the Costa Diadema will be officially presented at the Fincantieri shipyard in Marghera (Venice), in the presence of Costa Crociere CEO, Michael Thamm, and Fincantieri CEO, Giuseppe Bono.
Afterwards, the Queen of the Mediterranean will depart from Marghera on October 30th and arrive in Trieste, from where its inaugural cruise will begin on November 1st. Its arrival in the port of Trieste on October 31st will be a cause for celebration for the entire city, with a party on board and fireworks illuminating the beautiful backdrop of Trieste at night.
Passengers who have booked their places on the exclusive Baptism Cruise will depart from Trieste on November 1st for a very special vacation. They will have the honor of being the first to sail on the flagship, an ambassador of Italy's excellence, and to discover its features and services, beginning with the fantastic promenade on Deck 5, a true terrace stretching for 500 meters, where passengers can enjoy spectacular sea views or, even better, relax in one of the bars and restaurants, sipping a cocktail and gazing out to sea. This unique itinerary will include stops in Dubrovnik (Croatia), Corfu (Greece), Malta, and Naples (November 6th), before arriving in Genoa.
On November 7th, the city of Genoa, home to Costa Crociere, will host the christening of the Costa Diadema. It will be a great surprise for the city, and especially for the passengers of the Costa Diadema. The celebrations will begin at 5 p.m. and continue well into the night. The event will culminate in a spectacular light and fireworks show that will illuminate the Genoa sky as the Costa Diadema departs.
Costa's newest flagship will depart on November 8th for Savona, the port from which the inaugural cruise will begin that same day. The Costa Diadema's first stop in Savona will also mark the official opening of the second Palacrociere terminal, built by Costa with a total investment of 9 million euros.
After Savona, the arrival of the new flagship will also be celebrated in Marseille (November 9), before arriving in Barcelona on November 10, from where the ship will make weekly calls. After Barcelona, it will sail to Palma de Mallorca (November 11), Naples (November 13), and La Spezia (November 14): these are the ports that the Costa Diadema will visit during its seven-day itineraries, from November 10 departing from Barcelona until the end of the 2015 summer season.
