SEATRADE and the Port Authority will hold the Winter Cruising Forum in Cartagena in January. The main objective of this event is to promote cruise tourism during the winter in the Mediterranean, with a special focus on Spain.
The objectives of this Cruise Forum are focused on promoting cruise tourism, specifically in the Western Mediterranean; presenting cruise lines with an overview of the facilities and attractions that Cartagena and the Region of Murcia offer as a year-round destination for cruise passengers; and increasing cruise ship calls in Cartagena during the winter, thereby increasing the benefits of this type of tourism.
The conference will last a day and a half and will be attended by representatives from tourism-related institutions, ports, travel agencies, tour operators, shipping agents, shipyards, hotels, cruise lines, and more. During the event, a workshop session will be held, bringing together cruise line executives and representatives from interested institutions and companies in a series of pre-arranged one-on-one meetings. An exhibition area is also planned next to the conference hall, allowing interested participants to showcase their offerings.
The program will begin on January 19th with the arrival of shipping company executives in Cartagena and a welcome dinner for executives and speakers. Tuesday, January 20th, will be entirely dedicated to a familiarization trip (FamTrip), a day dedicated to exploring the city and the region as a tourist destination, primarily for shipping company representatives. That evening, a second welcome dinner will be held, this time open to all participants: speakers and forum attendees.
During the following two days, January 21 and 22, the forum itself will take place, and throughout these two days the conferences will be held in the morning, and on the last afternoon the meetings between representatives of shipping companies and businesses and institutions.
