The company has confirmed in a statement that the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, which is building the Spirit of Adventure, has informed them that the ship will not be delivered in time for its maiden voyage. Construction has been severely impacted by the shipyard shutdown and travel restrictions in place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Saga Cruises has contacted its customers in writing to inform them and offer them the opportunity to change to the new date once it is confirmed or to receive a full refund. “An inaugural cruise is a very special event, and we expect that most of our guests will want to rebook for a later date. We will continue working with Meyer Werft to confirm a new delivery date.”.
