The Alhambra and the Port of Motril are getting closer

The Alhambra and the Port of Motril have signed a protocol of intent to join forces and promote cruise tourism through places like the Dobla de Oro in Granada.

The Director of the Board of Trustees of the Alhambra and Generalife, Reynaldo Fernández Manzano, and the President of the Port Authority of Motril, Francisco Álvarez de la Chica, have signed a protocol of intent to “manage and facilitate actions that promote cruise tourism from the Port of Motril”, which will take place between January 1 and December 31 of each year.

To this end, a working group will be responsible for channeling and coordinating the planning, implementation, and evaluation efforts. A catalog of products will also be created, outlining itineraries for visiting the Monumental Complex, its associated properties, combined visits, and other additional activities.

The areas of action covered by the Protocol of Intent include tourism promotion carried out by the Port Authority of Motril, such as the upcoming edition of Seatrade Cruise Global, which this year is being held in Fort Lauderdale (Florida); the study and implementation of cultural and heritage itineraries and any other promotional actions that enrich and diversify the cultural and tourist offer; and support for actions that encourage an increase in overnight stays in the province of Granada.

For its part, thePort Authority will define the annual forecast of cruise ship calls with entry and exit at the Port of Motril; it will propose the visit itineraries and project the image of the Alhambra at national and international tourism fairs.
